How to move forward in uncertainty, not fear.
"If fear motivates it, God is not in it"
I don't know about you, but I am seeing a TON of rhetoric right now designed to position me in a place of uncertainty and fear.
We all know this is how mainstream media operates, but I'm also seeing it all over social media from friends and influencers alike.
Talk of recession, mass shootings, world politics…
All of it can elicit the kind of fear that makes us want to hide in a bunker.
…isn't that just what the enemy wants?
As disciples of Jesus, we care called to go, not hide. We are reminded 365 times not to fear, and Jesus teaches us to sow and reap, and trust Him to always provide.
"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”- Deuteronomy 31:6
It is HARD to be courageous, but God does not call us to an easy life, does He?
Now, there is a difference between fear and uncertainty.
Uncertainty says “I don't know what will happen…” and it leaves the door open for “BUT, I trust that God is sovereign over all, and He will not fail me or abandon me."
Fear says “I don't know what will happen, and I can't trust anyone”
One motivates you to move in spite of your feelings, the other gets you to sit down and wallow in them.
Subtle shifts in your thoughts can have MASSIVELY different outcomes.
Friend, you can feel uncertain, and still live your life without fear because you know the author, and He hasn't left you, and never will.
When you are being prompted to make a decision for your life, ask if it's rooted in fear. If it is, it is not from God. The enemy is really sneaky, and will trick you with the “almost”-meaning, it looks and sounds a lot like God, but it's just different enough that the outcome would be massively different than what God has for you.
Next, ask if what you're planning to do will further the kingdom of God. PRAY, and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. He will guide your steps. No need to look to social media, or friends and family to validate your decision. His prompting is validation enough.
I promise you, when you are aligned with your assignment, the right doors will open for you.
You may feel uncertain, that's okay. He's still got you.
